Using Auto-Export in iMonnit Express

Keywords: iMonnit, Sensor Data, exporting, .csv

Summary:

This article will show how to create and access an auto-export file for use with sensors in iMonnit Express.

iMonnit Express now includes an auto-export feature for your convenience. While you still have the ability to export a single sensors data, you now also have the option to automatically export the entire network of sensors to a .csv file.

All you need to make this feature work is iMonnit Express Version 3.1.2.5 or later and a program to open and explore the file.  If you don’t have the most recent version of iMonnit Express, you may download it from here:

Initial Configuration of Auto-Export:
1. Open iMonnit Express
2. Click "Configuration"

 Configure Express Export

3. Choose "Configure Automatic Data Export"

Filename

4. Click "Browse" to choose the location to save the file
5. Enter the prefix for the file; the system adds the date and the extension automatically (EX. "Auto_Export_Data_3_11_2014.csv" is the full file name where "Auto_Data_Export" is the prefix.)

Once the export file is created, you can access the data using any program capable of opening .csv files. Some of these programs will lock the file which will force the system to create a temporary file, unless opened in "Read Only" mode.

*Note: For quick viewing, we found that Notepad++ does not lock the file and will append itself even while open. Opening the file in Excel in any mode however, will lock the file and a new, temporary file will be created.
