The Wireless Sensors are battery operated with a year of life based in normal operating conditions. How Station will notify of a need to change a sensor battery. I also like Monnit, collection of sensors with best design and operating system.

Paul: Depending on the type of sensor you choose and thus the type of battery (coin type or AA) that it uses, you do get from yes, 1 year to up to 3-4 years depending on reporting (heartbeat) frequency. You can set the monitors to alert you when the battery reaches a certain power level, thereby preventing loss of function due to drained battery. I've just installed these throughout my building (3 temp sensors, 4 water sensors) and they have great range and provide vital feedback for me. I tested the sensors to make sure they are reporting, and they do. What I hadn't planned on using much was the online "check in" feature of the sensors web portal. Well, I discovered that I like to check in every once in a while just to make sure. It helps my OCD :).
