Displaying Sensor Application ID and Other Sensor Details in iMonnit

The iMonnit Online portal stores information about a sensor that is not immediately visible.

This data can be helpful to a user for integrating with:

  • API’s (REST, Webhooks, MINE, etc.)
  • Acquiring specific information about a sensor’s status
  • or Locating specific part number identifiers (SKUs)

Application ID

As briefly explained in Understanding Sensor Application ID’s, the Application ID for a sensor will be important for integrating with an API. It can also be useful in identifying the specific sensor type if needed.

This Application ID can be viewed in the iMonnit Online Portal through these steps:

  • Log into the iMonnit Portal.
  • Go to “Sensors” on the left-hand side and select the relevant sensor.
  • When the sensor has been selected, hover your cursor over “Sensor” in the top-left box.
  • The Application ID number will then appear below your mouse pointer and can be located in Understanding Sensor Application ID’s.

Sensor Details

Within a sensor's readings tab, information can be displayed helpful in understanding the sensor's status.

To get to the readings tab, follow these steps:

  • Log into the iMonnit Portal.
  • Go to "Sensors" on the left-hand side and select the relevant sensor.
  • Select the "Readings" Tab at the top of the page.

Gateway ID

Sensor history can provide the ID of the gateway that the sensor last communicated with.

  • Hover your mouse over the date in the sensor readings within the readings tab.

Signal Strength

Sensor history can provide a numerical representation of the signal strength percentage.

  • Hover your mouse over the signal bars in the sensor readings within the readings tab.

These percentages can be interpreted into an RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) value through the following chart.

  • 0% = -115 RSSI and lower
  • 10% = -111 RSSI
  • 20% = -107 RSSI
  • 30% = -103 RSSI
  • 40% = -99 RSSI
  • 50% = -94 RSSI
  • 60% = -90 RSSI
  • 70% = -80 RSSI
  • 80% = -70 RSSI
  • 90% = -60 RSSI
  • 100% = -50 RSSI and above

Battery Level

Sensor history can also provide the battery percentage and voltage level on a particular reading.

Sensor Specific Part Number (SKU)

All of Monnit's sensors and gateways have a part number, commonly referred to as a SKU. This identifier can be helpful for the purchasing of new sensors or data management. To acquire this information from the iMonnit Online Portal, follow these steps.

  • Log into the iMonnit Portal as a user with adequate permissions.
  • Go to "Networks" in the left-hand navigation menu.
  • Select the network to which the device has been added.
