Salt Lake City—January 8, 2026—Monnit expanded its IoT infrastructure portfolio today with the launch of its ALTA® Ethernet Gateway 4K and ALTA XL® Ethernet Gateway 4K. The new gateways are purpose-built to support small to large-scale deployments of sensor fleets without adding network complexity.

Both gateways can support up to 4,000 long-range ALTA Wireless Sensors and can actively communicate with 1,000 sensors simultaneously per 24 hours through our iMonnit® Software—no PC required. You can simply power and connect the gateways to Ethernet ports to quickly bring large sensor fleets online.

Designed for simplified deployment and administration, the ALTA and ALTA XL Ethernet Gateways 4K are ideal for organizations that need a distributed, high-capacity IoT network and extended wireless range options but require minimal sensor network management.

Our standard ALTA and ALTA XL Ethernet Gateways often require administrators to carefully balance sensor limits (up to 100 per gateway), configure multiple independent networks, or physically manage gateways one by one. The ALTA and ALTA XL Ethernet Gateways 4K eliminate those challenges by allowing multiple gateways to operate together as one logical network, dramatically reducing setup time and ongoing administration.

They were developed in response to customer demand from industries managing thousands of sensors across multiple sites, without wanting to micromanage individual networks and sensors. Organizations can preconfigure gateways and sensors before shipment, then deploy them across multiple locations.

Once powered on and connected to Ethernet, gateways automatically join the network and begin communicating with sensors in range—no PC, local server, or manual pairing required. This approach is particularly valuable for:

ALTA XL® Ethernet Gateway 4K: Extended Range for Demanding Environments

For organizations requiring greater wireless coverage, the ALTA XL Ethernet Gateway 4K adds a high-power transceiver that delivers up to 1 Watt of transmission power. This enables communication distances of 2,000+ feet through 18+ walls¹, making it well-suited for large warehouses, manufacturing facilities, campuses, and infrastructure-heavy sites.

To support this new level of scalability, the 4K gateways are optimized specifically for iMonnit and custom integrations. Local interfaces such as Modbus and SNMP were intentionally removed to maximize processing resources, memory, and performance for high-volume sensor networks.
