Wi-Fi 6 Coming to Next-Gen Next Wi-Fi Sensors
With Wi-Fi 4 moving to the rear-view mirror as the former IoT-ready, low-power chipset standard, Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) with dual-band operation will soon take its place as our Next™ Wi-Fi Sensor standard.
High efficiency is the primary technical benefit of Wi-Fi 6, with a theoretical maximum data throughput rate of 9.6 Gbps. This not only means higher overall and maximum speeds, efficiency, and improved modulation techniques, but also:
- Dual-Band Operation: Wi-Fi 6 natively supports 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, improving compatibility with modern enterprise and campus networks.
- Better Device Density Handling: Its protocols are designed to support large numbers of devices operating simultaneously without collisions or conflict. This is critical in environments filled with smartphones, laptops, tablets, and IoT devices.
- Improved Range & Signal Quality: Enhanced reception sensitivity and more sophisticated modulation can improve range and signal-to-noise ratio.
- More Robust Enterprise-Grade Security: Integrates advanced authentication and security frameworks expected by modern IT environments.
While Wi-Fi 6 offers marginal range gains for low-power IoT devices (because those devices intentionally transmit at low speeds to conserve energy), the improvements in speed, network robustness, density, and compatibility are substantial.
Much of what customers rely on stays the same—familiar Next Wi-Fi Sensors, the same compact housing, low-power, multi-year battery life, and seamless integration with iMonnit. But Wi-Fi 6 opens new doors.
Many organizations now require Wi-Fi 6-capable devices for procurement, making this upgrade essential for serving markets such as schools, government, and large enterprises. So, Monnit will be able to serve them better and others who want to take advantage of Next and its dual-band Wi-Fi 6 evolution.

Monnit Earns 2025 INTERNET TELEPHONY Excellence Award
We received the award for our Wireless Mold Remediation & Prevention IoT Solution and its successful deployment with The Turn Company's student housing developments. The award honors solutions that deliver measurable results in real-world IP communications.
Monnit stood out for providing reliable, scalable indoor environmental monitoring that directly improves property conditions and reduces operational risk.
The Turn Company deployed hundreds of Monnit ALTA® Wireless Humidity Sensors across a 15-acre student housing development in Louisiana. The sensing system, supported by Ethernet Gateways and iMonnit® Software, provides property managers with continuous visibility into temperature and humidity trends, so they can:
- Prevent mold before it starts.
- Detect HVAC issues earlier.
- Reduce maintenance costs.
The project has become one of The Turn Company's most successful initiatives, keeping units move-in, live-in ready even during extreme heat and humidity.
This award places Monnit among the top innovators advancing IP-enabled IoT solutions and reinforces the growing value of sensor-driven insight in property management. For students and housing management teams, it means healthier environments and dramatically fewer surprises.
See how The Turn Company leverages Monnit to protect residents, property, and assets, and to drive ROI in our case study.

Many Reports to Make in iMonnit
You deployed the Internet of Things (IoT) across your operations primarily to leverage data analytics. That’s why we offer 47 report templates within five categories in our iMonnit Software. The Reports feature categories are:
- Administrative—Get audit reports for account management.
- CFR—Report Title 21 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) compliance.
- GatewayExport—Check up on gateway health and status.
- SensorExport—Create various reports of sensor data points.
- Locations—Manage multiple locations or sub-accounts.
You can configure a report to generate data in a Microsoft Excel-readable comma-separated values (CSV) spreadsheet or Portable Document Format (PDF) within a few minutes.
Both file formats have unique advantages:
- PDF reports excel at maintaining formatting and design, making them ideal for sharing finalized documents or reports for review and printing as intended.
- CSV reports are perfect for data manipulation, analysis, and integration with other applications or systems due to their ease of editing and import capabilities.
Set up iMonnit Reports to generate daily, weekly, or monthly reports. There are some reports that you don’t have to configure or schedule in advance, and can be generated in 15 minutes.
View the video or read the Monnit Knowledgebase article to learn how to add iMonnit Reports to your predictive data analytics program.
