Monnit Brings ALTA® Wireless Sensors to Japan Through Widetec
Monnit continues to expand its global presence with a new master partnership agreement with Widetec, a Tokyo-based IT infrastructure company. Through this collaboration, Widetec is now authorized to sell and support Monnit ALTA® Wireless Sensors and IoT solutions throughout Japan.
The partnership follows regulatory updates approved in May 2025 that allow Monnit’s long-range, low-power sensors to operate at 920 MHz in the Japanese market. With these changes in place, organizations across Japan can now deploy Monnit’s lightweight, battery-powered IoT technology without extensive construction or specialized networking.
Widetec will provide localized expertise, including system implementation, documentation, and Japanese-language software built on Monnit’s iMonnit® platform. This regional support helps ensure smooth adoption while enabling customers to remotely monitor facilities, equipment, and infrastructure more efficiently.
Together, Monnit and Widetec address critical challenges facing Japan today, including workforce shortages, aging infrastructure, and the need for faster emergency response times. The partnership delivers practical IoT solutions that reduce on-site labor, improve visibility, and enable smarter decision-making across industrial, commercial, and public-sector environments.
Key benefits of the Monnit–Widetec partnership include:
- Easy-to-deploy wireless sensors with long-range communication
- Battery-powered operation for flexible placement and fast rollout
- Support for environmental, power, and motion monitoring needs
- Japanese-language software and local implementation services
- Scalable IoT solutions tailored to real-world operational conditions
The partnership combines Monnit’s proven IoT platform with Widetec’s deep regional and technical knowledge. It brings reliable, scalable monitoring solutions to organizations across Japan, helping them operate more efficiently today while preparing for the challenges ahead.

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) to be a Non-Negotiable iMonnit Standard
Did you know that, according to the Verizon 2025 Data Breach Investigations Report (DBIR), approximately 88% of web application attacks involve stolen or weak credentials?
As a cloud application, iMonnit is accessible from nearly any device and location, presenting a massive attack surface that passwords alone cannot fully protect. A common best practice proven to improve security for anyone using any online service or app is to add another authentication method to account access.
On March 1, we will remove the opt-out option for two-factor authentication (2FA) for devices accessing iMonnit. Current 2FA users won’t notice a change or have to reset security features. However, for every iMonnit user, in addition to your email address and password, 2FA will be mandatory—every 90 days per device—with the ability to choose authentication via email, SMS, or an authenticator app.
After the first factor—your email address and password—iMonnit will prompt you to authenticate your identity with a second factor.
Here’s more information about how iMonnit 2FA works:
- Reminder: Any device you use to access iMonnit only requires 2FA once every 90 days.
- Manage 2FA settings in the user profile section of iMonnit, then select your preferred 2FA option.
- By default, iMonnit will send a code via email or text message, depending on your notification or alert settings.
- Or use the authenticator app you already have, or download an app to scan a QR code or enter the app-generated code in iMonnit.
Thank you in advance for continually helping us avoid risking security for convenience.
