Monnit Partners with Widetec in Japan

Master Partnership Agreement Further Expands Monnit's Worldwide Reach

Salt Lake City & Tokyo—January 6, 2026—Monnit, a global Internet of Things (IoT) leader, announced today its master partnership agreement with Widetec, a leading IT infrastructure company in Tokyo. As a Monnit Partner, Widetec is now authorized to sell and distribute Monnit ALTA® Wireless Sensors and related IoT solutions in Japan.

The partnership deal received the green light in May 2025, following updates to regulations by the Japan Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. The regulations now allow Widetec to sell Monnit's low-cost, long-range ALTA Sensors in the Japanese market, operating at 920 MHz (RF).

Additionally, Widetec will offer comprehensive implementation, documentation, and language support, including Japanese software based on iMonnit, our cloud and on-premises IoT software.

"This partnership with Widetec aligns perfectly with our goals and marks a significant milestone in our expansion," said Monnit Founder and CEO Brad Walters. "It exemplifies our overall strategy to keep growing through new product development, entering new markets, and making new acquisitions."

Walters emphasized that strong product adoption and business relationships for both companies over the years made the timing of the Monnit-Widetec partnership ideal. Since 2010, Monnit has innovated its way to become a trusted global IoT leader, responding to customers' use cases worldwide.

  • In 2017, Monnit launched its ALTA IoT Platform, which is currently used by organizations in 85 countries.
  • In 2018, Monnit expanded into Europe with a sales office near Paris.
  • Also in 2018, Monnit Korea was established with Jay Youm as managing director.
  • In early 2025, Youm introduced Walters to Widetec President and CEO Koichiro Lee.

Widetec was established in 2000 as a global IT trading company to engage in the design, construction, and operation of IT infrastructure and the development of new IT products and services within the telecommunications industry.

"We're both established legacies, tried, and true companies," said Walters. "Widetec is a high-class, well-organized, professional organization. We're excited for our alignment of business values, this partnership, and the leadership of Koichiro Lee."

Initially, Widetec will sell the following Monnit IoT products, adding ALTA and new sensors and ALTA Gateways as they launch and the partnership progresses.
