Monnit Wins the 2025 Asset Tracking Award

Monnit wins IoT Asset Tracking award

Honor for Excellent Innovation in Burgeoning Internet of Things Market Segment

SALT LAKE CITY—June 16, 2025—Monnit announced today that its Cold Chain IoT Asset Tracking Solution won a 2025 IoT Evolution Asset Tracking Award from IoT Evolution magazine, the leading publication covering the Internet of Things (IoT) movement.

The award recognizes outstanding innovation in leveraging IoT technology to revolutionize asset tracking—boosting efficiency, preventing theft, or maximizing asset utilization.

"You can significantly boost cold chain efficiency and reduce or eliminate spoilage and loss when you track critical assets with our IoT sensor solutions," said Monnit Founder and CEO Brad Walters. "It's thrilling when our customers realize these benefits, and when an expert like IoT Evolution recognizes us for our solutions, it's highly validating and satisfying."

"It is my pleasure to recognize Monnit with an IoT Evolution Asset Tracking Award for its continued innovation," said Carl Ford, Community Developer at IoT Evolution World. "As a leader in this rapidly evolving industry, I look forward to seeing Monnit's future successes."

Monnit Asset Tracking Solutions Enhance Cold Chain Efficiency and Compliance

Perishable products in the food services, medical, and pharmaceutical industries must remain safe and high-quality from farm to fork or from manufacturing through consumption. Maintaining cold chain compliance is imperative to prevent spoilage and wastage of high-value assets.

Monnit supports many customers with Internet of Things (IoT) solutions for asset tracking and condition monitoring. This enables them to keep accurate records, safeguard ingredients and products, and maintain quality throughout their cold chain processes.

Our innovative IoT sensors, gateways, and cloud platforms work continuously to ensure that cold chain managers have the data they need to remain efficient, uphold safety standards, and comply with government and industry regulations. Professionals in agriculture, food processing, grocery, restaurant, bioscience laboratories, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare rely on our remote monitoring solutions.

IoT for cold chain tracking

Key IoT Solutions Track Critical Cold Chain Assets

Whether the cold chain is used for food services or vaccines, Monnit offers a variety of sensors to support it. However, the core IoT long-range, wireless devices that monitor asset conditions throughout a cold chain are:

  • ALTA® Low Temperature Sensor
  • ALTA® Digital Temperature Sensor
  • ALTA XL® IoT Gateway

In laboratories, clean rooms, hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, and temporary facilities, these essential tracking devices continuously operate behind the scenes to ensure that healthcare or pharmaceutical cold chains are secure, with data-logging loops from production to patient.

Patient data is essential for diagnosing various symptoms and prescribing effective treatments. Similarly, data from an IoT sensor network that monitors vital conditions, such as ultralow freezer temperatures in a vaccine cold chain, can be equally critical to effective health care.

In the same way, the IoT sensors and wireless connectivity in our Monnit IoT Asset Tracking Solutions maintain a continuous cold chain for food services, from ingredient sourcing to production plants to commercial kitchens.

Monnit Cold Chain IoT Asset Tracking Solution for Food Services, Pharmaceuticals, and Health Care

You can set up a mobile wireless IoT cold chain network in 15 minutes or less by connecting Monnit ALTA Sensors to an ALTA XL Cellular IoT Gateway using iMonnit Cloud Software. Once connected, you can configure ALTA Sensors and remotely monitor equipment and asset conditions through the iMonnit mobile and desktop dashboards.

ALTA Low Temperature Sensor

Cold chains are highly regulated, temperature-controlled environments where assets are created, stored, and distributed optimally. As a compliant data logger, the Monnit ALTA Wireless Low Temperature Sensor can be attached to or installed near an ultralow-temperature (ULT) freezer and within cold or frozen environments in a laboratory, vehicle, clinic, carrier, or restaurant. Its lead goes inside a freezer or close to assets. Remotely monitor a range of temperatures with a calibrated accuracy of ±0.5 °C from -200°C to 0°C (-328°F to 32°F) throughout the cold chain process.

With ALTA Low Temperature Sensors, you can:

  • Receive instant text, email, or call alerts if your preset parameters change.
  • Meet record-keeping, food safety, and chain-of-custody regulations like those of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Title 21 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 11 from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
  • Get a 13-month ISO-17025 National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) certificate.

Vaccine development and distribution wouldn't be effective without our ALTA Low Temperature Sensors. Many vaccines have different development and storage requirements, necessitating resilient, reliable, and proactive monitoring throughout the cold chain.

ALTA Low Temperature Sensors streamline data collection and are the primary or backup monitoring solution to maintain freezer, transport, and storage temperatures. Epidemiologists, research scientists, lab and food production managers, chefs, and restaurateurs rely on these sensors to consistently monitor temperature-sensitive and high-value assets.

ALTA Digital Temperature Sensor

With the push of a button, you can instantly read temperatures ranging from -40°F (-40°C) to 257°F (125°C) inside a restaurant refrigerator or cooler, a biochemistry lab clean room, or a cold pharmaceutical storage container. The ALTA Digital Temperature Sensor provides a quick manual update or reading on an LCD, allowing you to maintain constant data auditing, retrieval, and redundancy requirements for your operations.

Along with obtaining an instant, digitally displayed temperature reading, you can press the Read button to transmit time-stamped data to iMonnit, allowing you to create a data log. The sensor also offers automated data logging and can send alerts via text, email, or call if temperatures deviate from preset thresholds. The ALTA Digital Temperature Sensor assists you in complying with FDA 21 CFR Part 11B regulations, local and state health codes, and CDC mandates.

ALTA XL IoT Gateway

ALTA Sensors can wirelessly transmit cold chain data over 2,000 feet, penetrating through more than 18 walls, to an ALTA XL IoT Gateway. This gateway integrates a powerful wireless transceiver with a transmission strength of up to 1 watt, an amplified receiver, and advanced 4G LTE CAT-M1/NB2 cellular technology.

This enables the ALTA XL IoT Gateway to send and receive data communications, providing greater wireless reach. The gateway and the iMonnit Mobile App collaborate to connect and manage ALTA Sensors over the Internet, making their data accessible virtually anytime, anywhere. A GNSS location chipset supporting GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, and QZSS satellites collects gateway location data that can be distributed via an application programming interface (API).
