Monnit Releases the ALTA® Wireless Sensor Adapter to Connect ALTA Wireless Sensors to Local IoT Networks using a Microsoft® Windows® PC

wireless adapter for IoT sensors

Get Up and Running Quickly with Plug and Play Connectivity to a PC Via USB

SALT LAKE CITY (June 23, 2022) – Monnit announced that the ALTA® Wireless Sensor Adapter is available for IoT network administrators and managers to connect ALTA Wireless Sensors to standalone, local, and temporary IoT networks.

The ALTA Wireless Sensor Adapter quickly connects to a Microsoft® Windows® PC via a plug and play (PnP) supported USB cable to transmit ALTA Sensor data to private or cloud monitoring and management software like iMonnit.com, iMonnit Express, and others.

An ALTA Wireless Sensor Adapter can connect up to 100 ALTA Wireless Sensors to the Internet of Things (IoT) using the Frequency-Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS). Monnit’s ALTA FHSS data communications platform includes frequency interference immunity and encryption so ALTA long-range radios can reliably and securely transmit data up to one mile (line-of-sight) and 1,200+ feet through 12+ walls (non-line-of-sight).

Many industry applications or use cases can benefit from integrating the ALTA Wireless Sensor Adapter. Among them are smart facility or building operations, pest control, food services, data centers and server rooms, pharmaceuticals and labs, heating and cooling, and agtech. Custom IoT system designers can use the ALTA Wireless Sensor Adapter to integrate ALTA Wireless Sensors into their other wired and wireless IoT platforms or networks.

“The ALTA Wireless Sensor Adapter is another great example of ensuring IoT network builders have the tools they need to connect ALTA Wireless Sensors in a wide variety of network configurations,” said Monnit Founder and CEO Brad Walters. “IoT network managers must flexibly customize IoT connectivity to their specific application. By taking this approach, they can collect and analyze more applicable sensor data to better transform their operations and processes.”

How the ALTA Wireless Sensor Adapter Works with iMonnit Software

If you connect the ALTA Wireless Sensor Adapter to a PC with an active Internet connection and want to use it with iMonnit Software, install the free ALTA Wireless Sensor Adapter gateway application to pass the sensor data to iMonnit. The web-based user interface provides an advanced automatic refresh of its status section, a streamlined command section, plus firmware updates.

With iMonnit, you can easily configure your network, view collected sensor data, and set alarms or alerts from any browser. It’s easy to configure and customize at a sensor, local, or client-wide network level in iMonnit.

Use your wireless sensors locally to collect and store sensor data on your PC with iMonnit Express. Then, export sensor data in a CSV format spreadsheet. The iMonnit Express software can send SMS text and email alerts if the host computer has an active Internet connection.
