The high-tech food thermometer relies on handheld probes to measure food temps—a Curved Probe ships with it, and a highly ergonomic T-handle Probe is optional. The Soil Moisture Probe is essential to sensing conditions and delivering timely data from the field or greenhouse.
This probe measures food temperatures -50.0°C to 260.0°C (-58.0°F to 500.0°F) and has a lead made from nickel-clad copper wires. The lead is 48 inches.
At the end of a 48-inch lead is a user-friendly T-handle, which has a slightly lower temperature measurement range of -40.0°C to 246.0°C (-40°F to 475.0°F). It features an insulated cable with a stainless steel overbraid and fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) outer jacket.
The resistive granular matrix moisture element and a thermistor-based temperature element combine to measure soil water tension (matric potential) and temperature in different soil types. The moisture element works similarly to a plant’s root by measuring water tension in its hydrophilic fabric-covered matrix material.
