The Ins & Outs of NIST Certification with Monnit
Researchers, laboratories, pharmacists, manufacturers, restaurateurs, and more depend on precision temperature and humidity data for uncompromised product safety, quality, and performance. Monnit supports these customers by offering select Monnit Wireless Temperature, Humidity, and Low Temperature Sensors with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Traceable Certificates. As a U.S. Government agency, NIST is responsible for establishing standards and metrics used in science and technology.
The Traceable Calibration Certificate verifies that tested Monnit Wireless Sensors are traceable through NIST to the International System of Units (SI) as defined by the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM). Monnit Sensors are sent to an International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 17025-accredited lab for testing. Then our sensors receive a NIST Traceable Calibration Certification that satisfies the requirements of and complies with ISO 9000 standards.
A Traceable Calibration Certificate includes information needed to meet stringent accreditation demands, government specifications, and ISO 9000 requirements. This information includes serial number, certificate number, model number, calibration test equipment, equipment serial number, equipment calibration due date, unit accuracy, unit test conditions, test points, individual unit's calibration date, unit's next calibration due date, technician's name, and authorized signatures for certificate approval.

The award-winning Monnit ALTA® Digital Temperature Sensor builds on an award-winning remote monitoring platform by providing storage temperatures at the push of the button on a highly readable, four-digit LCD.
Data redundancy benefits:
Our Digital Temperature Sensor has a range of -40°F to 257°F (-40°C to 125°C) to support food storage, clinical vaccine storage, research labs, and other health-related fields.
This sensor fulfills newer regulations that mandate redundant data retrieval (e.g., a push-button) when tracking sensitive medications. It also supports 21 CFR Part 11B programs, stemming from the FDA, that require document integrity controls for working with pharmaceuticals.
The Digital Temperature Sensor provides alerts via text, email, or call should temps deviate from user-set thresholds. Configure notifications, alerts, data logging, and reports via iMonnit Software.
Researchers, retailers, and restaurateurs alike benefit from on-demand temperature readouts. Join the ranks with the sensor below.
View Product DetailsIt’s not the heat, it’s the humidity.
Whether it’s artifacts or data, you know that maintaining a relative humidity (RH) between 40–60% percent can be the difference between proper preservation and irreversible loss.
Monnit ALTA® Wireless and Next™ Wi-Fi Humidity Sensors remotely monitor RH with a +/- 3% accuracy (between 10–90% RH), temperature, and dew point in facilities or enclosures. If the humidity exceeds your specified limits, these scientific-grade sensors instantly alert you via text, email, or call for swift correction.
As one of Monnit’s broadest (and most popular remote monitoring solutions), the ALTA® Humidity Sensors are available in wireless commercial, enterprise, and industrial models. Next™ Wi-Fi and Power over Ethernet (PoE) Humidity Sensors are also available. Based on the model selected, you can further tailor the sensor with options including 3–25’ leads, 7-month NIST Certification, and solar power.
The depth and breadth of our Humidity Sensors make them favored by Ivy League museums, data centers, manufacturers, life sciences, food processors, agriculture, and art galleries. View Product DetailsKeep the critical ultra-cold.
Many products, vaccines, pharmaceuticals, and research samples have varying development, production, and storage needs. They all require resilient, reliable, and proactive monitoring during the cold chain. Our award-winning* ALTA® Low Temperature Sensors are a vital tool for pharmaceutical and health care professionals, food manufacturers, and distributors. You can also add our Next™ Wi-Fi Low Temperature Sensor to your network.
Whether keeping vaccines in an ultralow temperature (ULT) freezer throughout your cold chain, remotely monitoring logistics for frozen commodities to and from warehouses, or cadaver storage monitoring in a morgue, you can count on ALTA Low Temperature Sensors. The instant temperatures rise above your preset limits, you get a sensor alert sent via text, email, or call.
Smart building-ready ALTA Wireless enterprise-sized AA battery-powered and industrial-grade, PoE•X* Power over Ethernet (PoE), Next™ Wi-Fi Sensors are available. All Wireless, Wi-Fi, and PoE sensors have a 3’ probe lead; 10’ and 25’ leads are optional. Each low-temp sensor can help you remotely monitor a range of temperatures at +/- 0.5°C calibrated accuracy from -200°C to 0°C/-328°F to 32°F. They’re perfect for ULT freezers for vaccines, some of which require temperatures to be -80°C/-112°F and below.
Low Temperature Sensors are compliant data loggers to help you meet record-keeping and chain-of-custody regulations outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Title 21 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 11 from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). We can also help you get your low-temperature sensors with or without leads NIST-certified by an accredited lab.
These sensors excel in dry, low-humidity areas. Spec Monnit Thermocouple Sensors, for high-humidity, high-temperature locations.
WARNING: The Low Temperature Sensor should not be used in submersible applications. It may be used in liquid nitrogen applications without concern for sensor failure.

View Product DetailsUsed in refrigerators & freezers, this accessory improves accuracy & minimizes false alarms from defrosting, fans, or in/out traffic. This Glycol filled vial acts as insulation to slow the temperature sensor’s response time.
In the box
In testing 2 similarly calibrated temperature probes in a cooler where the door was left open for 5 minutes then closed for 15 minutes and repeated, the following observations were made.
The glycol thermal buffer is used with Monnit leaded temperature sensors (not for use with Monnit’s high or low temp sensors). The glycol buffer protects against air temperature shifts in refrigerators and freezers caused by opening doors for product access or the loading of inventory into coolers. This product is ideal for scientific/medical laboratories, medical offices, pharmacies, restaurants, grocery stores, etc., that want to eliminate “false positive” notifications and minimize anomalous spikes in their data reporting that are non-critical events.
Glycol temperature buffers are recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
