The Future of PoE is PoE•X

the future is PoE sensors

As Power over Ethernet (PoE) has become the rule, not the exception in building, facility, and business management, Monnit Corporation saw an opportunity to combine the strength of our robust line of popular wireless sensors with PoE, creating PoE•X.

Smart Buildings Save

data center monitoring sensors

PoE•X helps create smarter “smart buildings” and gives data and better insight into the smaller details of internal systems; ideal for monitoring high-density, high-tech spaces like data centers.

As a facility manager over a data center that already has PoE in place, adding several Monnit PoE•X sensors boosts productivity, eliminates waste, and mitigates human error. These PoE sensors save time and money, all while easily integrating into an already existing PoE network. It truly is a plug-and-play monitoring system.

For example, the facility manager could install Open/Close sensors for all doors, Water Detect Sensors for all bathrooms and utility spaces, and Temperature Sensors in server rooms. By adding a few sensors, this facility manager has opened up a world of visibility to areas they previously wouldn’t have seen or had access to otherwise. Monnit’s PoE•X solution gives them added insight into the needs and operations of their building.

As Power over Ethernet (PoE) has become the rule, not the exception in building, facility, and business management, Monnit Corporation saw an opportunity to combine the strength of our robust line of popular wireless sensors with PoE, creating PoE•X.

A server room requires meticulous adherence to a temperature between 59-89.5 degrees Fahrenheit. Should the server room temperature alter, outside this range, the sensor sends out an alert via text, email, or call, giving the manager time to address the situation before damages or problems occur. Similarly, signals will be received if a water leak is detected or doors are left open, which can save vital assets and keep occupants safe if caught early. PoE•X bolsters efforts to collect and report on data for assessment to keep compliant, in many cases, or to give peace of mind that all systems are working as they should.

Powerful Mixed Sensor Networks

For a business with multiple locations or types of buildings, combining Monnit’s wireless sensors with PoE•X sensors allows the facility manager to see the operations at several location points from a bird’s eye view, giving them an enormous advantage over their day-to-day processes.

A large national vegetable grower, for example, could have an executive location where they handle operations, a greenhouse to grow the product, and a warehouse where their goods are stored and distributed. Each of these locations has unique monitoring needs, and each building could have various IT systems in place. This is where Monnit becomes extremely valuable and dynamic.

Monnit’s offering of 80+ sensor types collect more data across all locations– giving insight into more than just temperature and water levels.  PoE•X sensors can plug directly into the PoE executive and warehouse sites. Reinforcing after-hours security measures by tracking crucial doors, like refrigerators or entrance to a facility, that need to remain closed. Installing wireless Monnit sensors to the greenhouse to track and measure humidity, soil moisture, and Co2 levels in the atmosphere. Because they have Monnit already incorporated into their offices and warehouse, the wireless sensors will send information directly to the iMonnit software for easy reporting and access.

This facility manager can now remotely monitor critical systems or infrastructures for hazards, and they can see all three locations on their electronic device(s) simultaneously. So much time and many resources are saved by tracking all areas, together, as one cohesive unit.

Strength in Numbers

Monnit has been an industry leader for over a decade. Our advantage lies in our broad line of remote monitoring solutions. Sensors that have been perfected through years of research and development. Temperature and water sensors are the most popular sensor types, yet they are just the tip of the iceberg. Monnit’s PoE•X and Wireless sensors cover a range of needs across several platforms and systems. Target specific pain points within your facility, begin to think on a broader scale about your PoE system, and leverage Monnit’s PoE•X sensors to save you valuable resources, time, and money.

As part of a list of sensors that is continually growing, Monnit currently offers sensors such as motion detection, thermocouple, humidity, dry contact, open/close, and of course, temperature and water detection– to name a few.
