New Intrinsically Safe IECEx-Certified ALTA-ISX Wireless Sensors
Monnit recently launched its intrinsically safe ALTA-ISX® Long-Range Wireless Sensors to protect workers and facilities in industrial environments with explosive atmospheres.
Three Monnit Sensors are IECEx-certified and available in the ALTA-ISX Sensor product line—the ALTA-ISX Temperature and Dry Contact Sensors and the 300 PSIG Pressure Meter. Monnit will add three to six more sensors to the ALTA-ISX family this year. IECEx is the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) System for Certification to Standards Relating to Equipment for Use in Explosive Atmospheres.
ALTA-ISX Sensors are not only certified as intrinsically safe in explosive atmospheres of group IIA and hazardous Zone 1 environments, but they’re also:
Incapable of causing a spark or reaching a temperature (class T3) that could ignite an explosive atmosphere comprising a range of group IIA gases or dust
Able to be used in many industrial applications worldwide where combustible gases (group IIA) may be present in Zone 1 areas
Petrochemical, manufacturing, power generation, construction, pharmaceutical, food production, architectural woodworking, and other industries can be susceptible to combustible gas, vapor, or mist igniting or exploding.
Like all ALTA Sensors and Meters, ALTA-ISX Sensors run on an IoT platform that touts an outdoor line-of-sight, long-range data transmission of up to one mile, and an indoor non-line-of-sight range of up to 1,200+ feet through 12+ walls.
Small Farm Automated Greenhouse Climate Controls Save Time and Money
We recently asked, “How do you Monnit?” and Robert Arnold, Founder and Owner of Smart Farm Innovations, quickly responded with his story. In a unique case study, he shares how his affordable Automated Environmental Controller Systems with Monnit Integration helps small farms around the country optimize greenhouse ventilation and save time and money.
As a Monnit Reseller, Arnold customizes our Remote Monitoring Solutions to specific farmer needs.
“Automation may sound futuristic and expensive, but we aim to help farms find ways to integrate cost-effective solutions to save on labor costs, improve productivity, simplify operations, and reduce management errors,” says Arnold. “Irrigation, ventilation, and electrical equipment can all be economically controlled from your smartphone using the latest technologies.”
Small, often family-run farms face considerable challenges to profitability. Read how Smart Farm Innovations connects small farms to the Internet of Things (IoT) with remote monitoring solutions that automate greenhouse systems, track critical conditions, reduce equipment costs, and boost overall efficiency.
Tech Tip: ALTA Sensor Firmware Over-the-Air (FOTA) Updates
You can upgrade your Monnit ALTA Sensors wirelessly with firmware over-the-air (FOTA) updates sent from iMonnit. This way, you can keep ALTA Sensors up to date with the latest features, security, and connectivity. An iMonnit dashboard will help you quickly know what sensors have updates available. Then in one or two clicks, iMonnit will send the update commands and data through the ALTA Gateway to the sensors. The iMonnit dashboard will track the update and show you the status and progress. This knowledgebase article explains how ALTA Sensor FOTA updates work—and what you’ll see and experience when you do them.
