Just Change the Lead to Keep Monitoring
Here's a smarter way to simplify NIST recertification, reduce downtime, and maintain continuous monitoring. Our new NIST Standard and Low Temperature and Humidity Detachable Leads, along with compatible ALTA® Industrial and Enterprise Sensor Bases, streamline calibration and compliance.
With these new products, we’ve created a new NIST recertification process for regulated environments that lets you replace only the calibrated lead while the sensor base remains installed.
Designed to Ease Compliance
Instead of taking critical monitoring points offline, disconnect the certified NIST Detachable Lead, install a newly calibrated replacement, and send the original lead for recertification. Calibration and traceability remain with the detachable lead, reducing maintenance time, streamlining compliance, and enabling uninterrupted monitoring.
Compatible sensor bases automatically detect the connected lead type and log lead installation and removal events in iMonnit® Software, improving maintenance visibility and supporting audits.
Key Benefits of NIST Detachable Leads
- Hot-swap a lead in minutes without removing the sensor.
- Reduce maintenance downtime and monitoring interruptions.
- Support NIST-traceable calibration and ISO 17025-accredited certifications.
- Stores calibration, certification, identification, and traceability data in the lead.
- Automatically synchronize lead information and data with iMonnit.
- Use a secure, sealed M8 6-pin connector for reliable field installation.
- Replace leads while the sensor is powered on or off for maximum flexibility.
Ideal for healthcare, pharmaceutical, laboratory, food production, manufacturing, and other regulated environments, Monnit's innovative detachable-lead architecture simplifies accurate, compliant monitoring.

Two Tips: How to Quickly See Sensor Status and Update Gateway Firmware
We have two reminders for you with this month’s Tech Tip. First, we’ll show you how to check a sensor's status at a glance in iMonnit. Second, we have a description and a link to a short video that shows how to update your gateway’s firmware.
Review a Sensor’s Status
- Click on Sensors on the left main menu. On each sensor card, you’ll see:
- The status bar indicates green for good, the dynamic signal strength icon, the battery level, the date and time of the last report, and key data points.
- The vertical kebab or three-dot menu lets you quickly dive into a sensor’s Details, Readings, Rules, Settings, Move, and Delete options.
- A heart icon says that you’ve marked this sensor as a favorite.
- Choose a sensor to review by clicking on the left status bar of the sensor’s card.
- The sensor card now displays more sensor status details and links to the Current Rules and Create another Rule options.
Update a Gateway’s Firmware
Updating the firmware of your ALTA® or ALTA XL® Gateways is paramount to preventing security and performance issues. You should update the firmware if you see a download arrow icon next to Gateways in the left iMonnit sidebar menu.
Periodic firmware updates will improve the functionality and features of your gateways and help our iMonnit maintenance procedures run smoothly.
Here’s a video and a Monnit Knowledgebase article to help you update one or more gateways in five steps.
