Beta Today, Better Tomorrow

Before a new Monnit product reaches customers, it goes through research, development, and alpha testing. Then the Monnit Beta Testing Program puts it in customers' hands for real-world testing.

Beta testing uncovers hidden bugs, validates performance, improves usability, and confirms customer value. This is how good products become great.

What's in Our Beta Pipeline

Select customers are currently beta testing the Food Probe 2. Five other products are in alpha-stage testing and in line for beta testing:

  • Handheld Food Probe 2: Create custom food profiles with target temperatures, time requirements, thresholds, and alerts to help automate cooking and compliance.
  • Edge Gateway 2: BACnet, Modbus, MQTT, and Node-RED will provide more local control and flexible integration with cloud and building management platforms.
  • New iMonnit: An enhanced user interface boosts dashboard access, device setup, configuration, and navigation.
  • PoE•X People Counter: Non-camera millimeter-wave radar counts people entering and exiting while maintaining privacy.
  • All-In-One Cellular Sensors: Combine sensing and cellular gateway capabilities in one device and chipset for energy-efficient, direct-to-cloud connectivity.
  • Generation 4 ALTA Wireless Sensors: Initially, eight new sensors will be released. The new sensor line touts a 250-milliwatt to 1-watt radio, depending on your location, for a 2,600 to 4,000-foot performance range.

The Beta Difference

A strong beta program puts products in the hands of the right people and uses their experience to make the product better. Monnit's approach helps expose problems that may not appear in internal testing alone, while giving customers a voice before launch. We focus on three beta-testing pillars:

  1. Strategic participant selection: Testers represent diverse industries, environments, and use cases. The goal is a cross-section of customers with varied technical expertise and deployment conditions.
  2. Rigorous data verification: Testers capture edge cases and performance data. Their experiences help reveal issues and needed enhancements that lab testing may not expose.
  3. Loop-closing feedback: In-the-field reporting and firmware over-the-air (FOTA) updates let Monnit identify issues and push fixes during beta, if necessary. This keeps feedback connected to action during and after testing.

Feedback is prioritized as "must fix now," "need to have," or "want." Must-fix issues are resolved ASAP and before launch. Need-to-have enhancements may be incorporated when practical, while wants can become roadmap items.

Customers Help Shape What Ships

Beta testers aren't just checking a finished product. Their feedback can lead to significant enhancements. Monnit reviews beta data as a team, weighing requests against the problems they solve for customers.

By testing products in diverse real-world conditions, Monnit can discover what the lab can't—and use those insights to deliver stronger technology from day one.

Face the Super El Niño with Strong Sensing

A historic, potentially record-setting Super El Niño is developing and is projected to peak during the 2026–2027 Northern Hemisphere winter. With conditions expected to persist into early 2027, now is the time to get your facilities ready for whatever winter brings.

Cold temperatures, snow, ice, warming periods, and increased demand on building systems can create problems ranging from frozen pipes and water damage to HVAC failures, equipment issues, and uncomfortable spaces. The good news? You don't have to wait for problems to find them.

Sense Winter Problems Before They Escalate

ALTA Wireless Sensors give facility teams the actionable data they need to monitor critical conditions and respond quickly. Place ALTA Water Detection Sensors near pipes, boilers, mechanical rooms, basements, and other areas vulnerable to leaks from frozen or burst pipes, rising groundwater, melting snow and runoff, or equipment failures.

Use ALTA Temperature Sensors to monitor sensitive areas, equipment, and inventory. Get alerted when temperatures approach dangerous levels and before freezing conditions cause damage.

Keep Your HVAC on Track

Winter can put HVAC systems to heavy-duty work. ALTA HVAC Sensors and Meters help monitor conditions and the system in areas where temperature fluctuations and occupant comfort matter. ALTA Differential Air Pressure Sensors provide backup monitoring for facility vents and make-up air units that snow, clogged filters, and improper airflow could restrict.

Do you need more control? The ALTA MultiStage Thermostat can control conventional, heat pump, and dual-fuel HVAC systems with multiple heating and cooling stages.

Get Your Facility Winter-Ready

Before winter arrives, take a fresh look at your facility and make sure you've covered the basics:

  • Inspect the building envelope and seal potential drafts.
  • Insulate vulnerable pipes and unheated spaces.
  • Clear gutters and roof drainage.
  • Check backup power and emergency equipment.
  • Review snow and ice removal plans.
  • Confirm sensor alerts and emergency response procedures.

Then look for opportunities to strengthen your monitoring coverage. Are you sensing the areas most vulnerable to freezing, water intrusion, HVAC problems, and equipment failure?

Turn Winter Data into Action

Temperature, humidity, pressure, water detection, equipment performance, and other sensor data can help reveal recurring cold spots, excessive humidity, water intrusion, and equipment issues. With iMonnit™ Software, teams can receive alerts remotely and respond before a small problem becomes a costly disruption.

With ALTA Wireless Sensors, you can face the Super El Niño with stronger sensing and greater confidence in your facility's winter readiness.

How Sensor Assessments per Heartbeat Works

How often do you want your Monnit Sensors to measure a condition against a threshold between Heartbeats?

You can configure the Assessments per Heartbeat setting in iMonnit, allowing sensors to decide whether to enter the Aware State or remain there to alert you to a threshold breach. By configuring the Assessments per Heartbeat and Aware State settings in iMonnit, you can:

  • Preserve sensor battery life
  • Process sensor data at the edge
  • Collect the right amount of timely, actionable data for your use case

The Monnit Knowledgebase article, "How Assessments per Heartbeat Works," explains how to configure it. You'll learn:

  • The benefits of Assessments per Heartbeat and Aware State
  • Examples of the settings and what to expect
  • How to configure the Assessments per Heartbeat setting
  • How to configure the Aware State Threshold setting

Knowing how to configure the sensor settings—Assessments per Heartbeat and Aware State Threshold—is critical to getting the most from remote monitoring.
